EMDR therapy (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing) can be helpful for a range of issues, the list below might be useful in identifying what you are seeking help for:
EMDR THERAPY
⦿ Anxiety ⦿ Chronic Pain ⦿ Depression ⦿ Existing Trauma
⦿ Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
⦿ Relationship Issues ⦿ Sexual Assault ⦿ Single or Multi Traumatic events
HOW I WORK
During EMDR sessions, we will target and process old or recent traumatic memories while using bilateral stimulation through either right/left eye movement or tapping stimulation.

Towards the beginning of EMDR treatment, I will ensure you have ample grounding and emotion regulation tools which will enable you to confidently go into processing the traumatic memories.
There are 8 phases of this therapy and I will support and guide you through each of them.

During the therapy, we will focus directly on the distressing memory and change the way the memory is stored in the brain, helping to reduce and eliminate the problematic and traumatic symptoms. EMDR can be a very healing and transformational therapy.
EMDR THERAPY
EMDR therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms. It can also help with anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and other distressing life experiences.

EMDR therapy helps the brain process traumatic memories and allows for healing to being. While the experience of the distressing events are still remembered, the fight, flight, freeze or fawn response from the original event is resolved.

The bilateral stimulation technique which is used, activates the opposite sides of the brain releasing emotional experiences which are ‘‘trapped’’ in the nervous system.

The EMDR treatment is structured around an 8-phase approach over a series of sessions and used until symptoms have been fully resolved.
These phases are:
(1) History & Treatment Plan, (2) Preparation & Building Client/Therapist Relationship, (3) Assessment, (4) Memory Desensitisation, (5) Instillation through Bilateral Stimulation, (6) Body Scan, (7) Closure, (8) Client Re-evaluation.
YOUR SESSIONS
EMDR Therapy is a short-term intervention that generally lasts anywhere from 6-12 sessions. But ultimately, it depends on the nature of your trauma as well as how many traumatic events you are working on.
EMDR therapy is a regular in-person weekly commitment. Sessions are not available on a bi-weekly basis or offered via zoom.
If we both feel that my services could be beneficial to you, we would agree a regular weekly time, this would be your appointment time.

Sessions are paid before each session begins by bank transfer. Missed or cancelled sessions without the 5 days notice given, are paid for by bank transfer. Sessions are 50-90 minutes long and start from your appointment time.
